The approach to this property in Istán unfolds through a curved cobbled driveway, terraced planting and warm-toned walls. Palms and slender cypress trees connect the entrance with the surrounding hillside, while an illuminated gabion feature gives the boundary a distinctive character.
Texture, planting and light
The landscape brings together sculptural olive trees, clipped shrubs, succulents and flowering groundcover. Their contrasting forms soften the built edges and create depth along the drive. Textured wall surfaces and paving provide a quiet backdrop to the planting.
After dusk, lighting reveals another dimension of the composition. A luminous band within the gabion draws attention to its textured infill. Low-level fixtures and a continuous line along the kerb trace the curve of the driveway, while focused uplighting highlights the trunks and crowns of selected trees.
The arrival sequence continues into the villa’s forecourt, where illuminated palms and layered planting frame the entrance. Beyond the house, the garden opens towards a distant coastal panorama. From the first turn of the driveway to the sunset view, the landscape creates a coherent sense of arrival and place.
